Save a life, save the world
let's rescue humanity together,
support our missions in the Mediterranean
The first few months of the war in Ukraine have put a strain on the resilience of the health system, with increasing efforts being made to provide initial emergency care and treatment for the wounded, both military and civilian, who have been injured in fighting or bombing. Both in the areas directly affected by the conflict, where health workers and resources have been deployed, and in the rear areas, where entire hospitals have been set up to care for the wounded, the resources necessarily diverted are putting a strain on the 'normal' management of health care.
In addition, there is the impact of the movement of refugees towards the European borders and, above all, of internally displaced persons, who are concentrated in the western city of Lviv.
Thanks to the support of UBI, we were able to launch the Med Care for Ukraine project. We have set up and run a mobile health column to respond to the needs of the civilian population that we encountered on the ground during the first months of the war.
The vulnerable population that Med Care for Ukraine serves includes people in need of immediate care, refugees who have travelled for days in makeshift vehicles, war wounded who have fled cities under attack, and people with chronic illnesses who have been denied the care they need.
Specifically, we were able to complete the purchase and installation of the mobile clinic.
In addition, for the first 3 months of operation, we also covered the costs of
Transport of doctors and nurses
Cultural-linguistic mediation
Logistics and supplies in Ukraine
Purchase of medicines and medical supplies
Now, with the support of Mediterranea's Land Crews and other funding bodies, the project will continue, but all this is possible thanks to the initial contribution of the Italian Buddhist Union, which believed in the possibility of starting this experience and gave us confidence.
