The arrest of Libya's chief of judicial police, Mitiga Almasri's torturer, came after years of complaints and testimonies from victims, made to the International Criminal Court, which conducted a difficult investigation.
Almasri is proof of how atrocious and criminal the entire Libyan system, fortified in recent years by millions of euros from Italian governments and the European Union, is: bandits like Almasri only implemented the mandate he received to “stop the migrants,” with means and money from Western institutions.
He was hiding in Italy, of course: that's because here traffickers feel safe. Despite the attempt to keep it hidden, the news came out in Italy anyway, thanks to Nello Scavo of Avvenire. But we are only at the beginning: who paid Almasri to torture, detain, kill women men and children?
